Hurricane Harvey hit the Texas coast and is now one of the most powerful hurricanes to hit the United States in years. Hundreds of thousands of people are still dealing with catastrophic rains, power outages, flooding and more and this is predicted to continue for many more days while moving into Louisiana.
I have a friend that in located in the Houston area and is continuing to update and with each update, my heart breaks even more! If you are looking for ways to volunteer or donate to those affected by Hurricane Harvey, check out the list below….
*AmeriCares – will take medicine and supplies to survivors. You can also click here to make a donation
*Catholic Charities – provides support, food, shelter, clothing to those from all religious backgrounds
*Humane Society of United States – Head over here to make a donation. Your donation will help animals and families that had to evacuate their home.
*Houston Food Bank and Food Bank of Corpus Christi – needing donations
*Houston Humane Society – (currently closed) You can make a donation online
*The Red Cross – You can text “Harvey” to 90999 to make a $10 donation. And click here to make an appointment to donate blood for those affected by Hurricane Harvey.
*Salvation Army – You can call 1-800-SAL-ARMY or head to this page to make a donation.

**AVOID CHARITY SCAMS!!! There are many great organizations that you can give your time and money to help those in need. But be aware, there are just as many scams out there. Please take a little time to do your research before donating to make sure that your money and/or items you are donating are going to a legitimate charity.
